In exactly 100 days they will circumnavigate the complete continent with the goal to raise as much money as possible for the Dutch KiKa Foundation. The KiKa foundation supports research into and treatment of children's cancer. Now with already 11,500 km on the teller, they are quickly moving on to the East Coast. On arrival in Cairns on September 17th they will finish thier journey at Mercure Cairns Harbourside after cycling 14,000 km. This equals four Tour de France races. With their healthy bodies Mark and Reinier undertake this enormous physical effort to contribute in the battle against children’s cancer. Since Cairns Mark and Reinier have passed Katherine, Broome, Perth, Esperance, the Nullarbor Plain, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. Momentarily they are heading for Brisbane. This will be their last stop before their finish in Cairns on September 17th. On the road Mark and Reinier meet many Australians who have hardly without a beat have been friendly and generous donators. Also the Dutch embassy and other Dutch societies in Australia offer help. Already events have been hosted in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney to raise money for 100 Days for KiKa. Also in Brisbane will be hosted such an event when Mark and Reinier will arrive there in a couple of days. Mark and Reinier can be followed live on their website www.100daysforkika.com. Every day a blog is posted and with live GPS tracking their progress can be monitored. Mark and Reinier are accompanied by Jack on their journey. Jack is a teddybear that symbols the KiKa Foundation. He is photographed everywhere he goes and has his own Facebook page (Planking Jack). You can find him and the companies and individuals who have sponsored 100 Days for KiKa on the website. All money received by 100 Days for KiKa is 100% donated to the KiKa Foundation. Mark and Reinier’s journey can be followed on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and www.100daysforkika.com. |
